Closing ceremony | August 11, 2017 |
The Games of the XII Olympiad was an international multi-sport event which was celebrated in the cities of Novonaya, Kelssek and Provinsk, Vekaiyu through July and August 2017. They were first Olympic Games to be hosted by a non-human nation, as Vekaiyu has a primarily vulpine population. The spectacular opening ceremonies at Provinsk's Yemestrovi Revetraveru are widely considered as one of the best in Olympic history.
One of the most significant controversies were suspicions that Gragastavia's equestrian competitors were utilizing camels disguised as horses, although officials were unable to find conclusive evidence. Kelssek saw nationwide celebrations as its water polo teams won a historic double gold at the Islasi Rostrovistre Sen Provinsk. The Kelssek government expelled Greater Vakolicci Haven diplomat Konstantin Glavus, who made public statements promising to bribe witnesses after Lucien Berinu, a visitor from that country, was arrested and charged with stabbing Björn Wang, a table tennis competitor from The Atlae Isles.
