The Constitution of Darmen is the supreme law of the Republic of Darmen. The final draft of the constitution was produced on October 31st, 2036 and entered into force two months later on January 1st, 2037 after its approval by the Governing Council of the Confederation. It was written by the Constitutional Assembly, which was led by its chairman and chief author of the document, Tor Tong Lee. In addition to being chairman of the Constitutional Assembly, Lee was serving as Provisional President of Darmen at the time, until becoming Darmen's first official President on January 2nd, 2037 under the terms of the constitution. The constitution has been amended several times since then.

The constitution is seen as the main document behind the reunification of Darmen and introduced a republican form of government to Darmen.

Preamble (full text)[edit]

The Darmeni people, requiring a unified and proper governance of their internal and external affairs, do establish this Constitution as the supreme law of the Republic.

At just 26 words, the preamble to the Darmeni constitution is among the shortest in the multiverse.

Article I-Sovereignty[edit]

Article I establishes Darmen as a republic, gives national sovereignty to the people and details the role of political parties in executing national sovereignty. It also establishes Darmen's flag, national anthemn and national motto. It contains six sections.

Article II-The President[edit]

Article II establishes the offices of the President of Darmen and the Vice President of Darmen and lays out their duties. It contains 20 sections.

Article III-The Executive Cabinet[edit]

Article III establishes the Executive Cabinet of Darmen. It contains three sections.

Article IV-Parliament[edit]

Article IV establishes the Parliament of Darmen. It contains 17 sections.

Article V-International Agreements and Treaties[edit]

Article V lays out the conditions under which Darmen may enter into treaties with foreign states. It contains five sections.

Article VI-Supreme Court and Justice[edit]

Article VI establishes the Supreme Court and lays out the conditions under which certain members of the government receive immunity from prosecution. It also abolishes the death penalty in Darmen. It contains 11 sections.

Article VII-Subdivisions[edit]

Article VII establishes the regions and municipalities as the two levels of administrative subdivisions within Darmen. It contains eight sections.

Article VIII-Agreements of Association[edit]

Article VIII gives Darmen the ability to enter into agreements of association with other nations which have the Legonian language as one of their languages, or for other reasons which are beneficial to the development of society. It contains two sections.

Article IX-Revising the Constitution[edit]

Article IX lays out the conditions under which the constitution may be amended. It contains just a single section, making it the shortest article.
