Hockey Champions League
The Hockey Champions League (HCL) is an international club championship in ice hockey. National champions and up to three other teams may qualify through their domestic leagues. The first international club championship was known as the Champions Hockey League, which lasted for fifteen editions. Following a number of abortive attempts to hold a 16th edition, the competition was revived by the Valanora Sporting Council under the current name.
The tournament format consist of qualifying rounds for a 32-team group stage, from which 16 teams qualify for the knockout phase. Qualifying and knockout phases are contested as two-match ties with winner decided by aggregate score across the two matches. If the aggregate score is tied, a 20-minute sudden-death overtime period is held, and if still tied a best-of-five penalty shootout decides which team advances.
The most successful team in the competition is Valanora's eight-time winners Raynor City Raptors.
