The PFFA Premier League, often referred to as the Poafmersian Premier League or PFPL outside Poafmersia, is the top level of the Poafmersian football league system. Administered by the Poafmersia Football Association (PFPA), it is contested by 20 teams, and operates on a system of promotion and relegation, with teams being relegated to the PFFA Super League. Seasons run from March to November yearly, with each team playing 38 matches every season (playing all 19 other teams home and away).
The competition was formed in 2094, following the decision by the PFFA to launch a nation-wide league system to replace the current state-based league system. The launch of the 1st season coincided with the launch of the IFCF club competitions, a successor to the previous international competitions launched by UICA.
History[edit]
Participation in Regional and International Club Competitions[edit]
Following the formation of the Federação de Futebol Independente (FFI) and the International Federation of Club Football (IFCF), Poafmersia participated in the inaugural seasons of both competitions. Based on the IFCF coefficient rankings, the Poafmersian Football League System is ranked 32nd, and therefore is allowed to enter 2 teams into the IFCF Champions' League, and 3 teams into the IFCF Challenger's Cup.
Season | Coefficient Points | Ranking |
---|---|---|
1 | 0.875 | 140 |
2 | 5.75 | 68 (72) |
3 | 15.5 | 32 (36) |
To date, a grand total of 15 teams (including the teams' youth divisions) have participated in regional competitions.
